Job Summary

The Manager Financial Controls and Budgeting will be responsible for all aspects of financial policies and controls for the Company. The Manager Finance will also work with the General Manager, Finance to drive the financial performance of the company.


Key Responsibilities

Core deliverables

• Responsible for the development and compliance to all finance policies and processes and continuous assessment of internal controls
• Preparation of all reconciliations in accordance with the company policies and procedures and timely resolution of all outstanding items
• Formulating annual budgets and financial projections in close relation with departments for board approval
• Developing and Implementing risk management policies
• Develop, review and implement sound accounting and operating procedures and put in place proper internal financial controls to enhance an effective control environment
• Ensuring all Finance operations and control initiatives are implemented within approved frameworks and timelines
• Oversight and resolution of risk and internal and external audit issues within agreed timelines
• Maintain the integrity of the company’s financial controls and information
• Develop, implement and monitor all finance and accounting processes, systems and records
• Conduct assessments of transactions to ensure compliance with the organisation’s strategic objectives
• Ensure financial processes for payables, budgets and fixed assets management are in place with effective controls and governance practices
• Ensure accurate and timely administration of all tax and statutory compliance issues including VAT and other taxes
• Development, implementation, monitoring and custodianship of all finance and accounting processes, systems and records
• Coordinate both internal and external audit processes, acting as a key liaison person and ensuring ensuring that the necessary documentations are provided on time.
• Support the implementation of Internal financial controls (IFC) guidelines
• Streamline the core business systems to ensure proper mapping and interface with the financial system.
• Manage the performance and delivery of direct staff reporting to this role



• Bachelors’ degree in a business related field
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA K or ACCA
• Member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or equivalent and in good standing



• At least 8 years’ experience in finance preferably within the financial service industry



• Knowledge on Finance and Tax legislation
• Knowledge on budgeting
• In depth understanding of insurance operations and concepts
• General knowledge of Ledger, Accounting
• Knowledge of relevant legislation framework
• Finance management and risk awareness
• Accounting principles
